Injury and Disease Rehabilitation

How to Heal from Injury

Whether it’s a broken ankle, a wry neck, or an aching low back, the body has a natural capacity to heal. It just needs a little bit of guidance to help it along and strategies to manage the pain; that’s when a good physiotherapist can come in handy.

The most important part of any treatment, is a thorough assessment of the problem. The first appointment at Embodiment with Isha is 70 minutes long, where we go through a an in depth investigation of all the contributing factors that led up to the injury, followed by a physical examination to narrow it down to the most likely tissue(s) that are injured or causing issue. At this point, we create a treatment plan that fits your needs and lifestyle to help you get back to feeling healthy and stronger than ever before!

At Embodiment with Isha, I use combination of manual therapy, dry needling/IMS, and exercise to help the nervous system and injured tissue return to a healthy and capable state. We will also discuss strategies to build stronger resilience in the tissue, and offer therapies that can help mitigate pain and discomfort through the healing process.

Injuries you might want to a see a physiotherapist for include:

  • Bone fractures

  • Muscle Strains

  • Ligament Sprains

How can Physio help with Disease Management?

Complex disease tends to hit many systems of the body. What feels like only a physical health problem (like Osteo Arthritis) requires a multi-modal approach. Which means you might want to involve your doctor and pharmacist/naturopath to help manage your arthritis issues alongside your physiotherapist, to tackle issues like medication and lifestyle.

A physiotherapist has both the time and expertise to offer guidance, exercise planning, as well as therapeutic relief for a number of diseases or conditions--whether active or in remission. This includes:

  • Cancer rehabilitation (post chemotherapy/surgical treatment)

  • Diabetes/Metabolic disorders

  • Osteo and Rheumatoid Arthritis

  • Concussion/Post Concussion syndrome

  • Stroke

  • Multiple Sclerosis

  • Parkinson’s Disease
